Alexandria Clark

Alexandria Clark, one of our Staff Nurses on the Children's Ward at the Horton General Hospital, received a DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional care she provided for a child (and their family) at the end of their life.
Alex helped arrange for the child to die where they wanted, close to their family and in familiar surroundings.
Her nominator said: "Alex advocated strongly for the child and the family for the right to choose where to die. She felt strongly as a nurse it was the greatest honour to care for a child and their family at the end of their life.
"Her efforts supported the child being transferred to the ward. Over the four days the child was nursed on the ward. Alex cared for the child every shift she worked that week, including after the child had died.
"She was kind and compassionate – she always listened and was there for the child and the family.
"The family are so grateful to Alex and all of the ward staff, who were an excellent team in their child's final days. I will be always grateful to Alex and the difference she made. She should be proud of herself."
Congratulations Alex, and thank you for all you do.
