The pension scheme you are in will depend on the date that you enrolled:

  • 1995 section – staff who joined the NHS pension scheme for the first time before 1 April 2008
  • 2008 section – staff who joined the NHS pension scheme for the first time on or after 1 April 2008 or those who chose to move from the 1995 section as a result of the last NHS pension choice exercise or the Choice 2 exercise
  • 2015 scheme – staff who joined the NHS pension scheme for the first time on or after 1 April 2015 or have become members either on 1 April 2015 because they had no protection or on a later date because they had tapered protection
