Virtual appointments
We have also been offering virtual and telephone appointments for many of our outpatient clinics, meaning patients can receive support and care remotely from their own homes.
Please check your appointment letter to see if your appointment is virtual, by telephone, or in person before attending to save an unnecessary journey.
The majority of our virtual appointments are carried out on the phone, with other methods including video calls on mobiles and tablet devices using a programme called Attend Anywhere, which is very straightforward to use.
Updating your contact details
If you have changed your home address, mobile and/or landline telephone number or email address, please inform your GP Practice and then contact the Patient Contact Centre so that we can update our records.
Appointments - contact details
General Gastroenterology - new appointments
A pilot has begun within General Gastroenterology to contact new patients who have been experiencing a long wait for their first appointment.
We are contacting these patients using a digital solution - an AI called 'Dora'.
New patients receive a text message advising of a date and time of a call from Dora. Dora will then call on that date at that time, to ask them some questions about their health.
This use of Dora improves efficiency in our service by allowing our administration staff to focus on other key tasks.
