Sarah Cripps BPharm MSc MRPharmS (IPresc) FFRPS
Sarah has worked at Oxford University Hospitals since qualifying in 1995 from the University of Bath and registering with the GPhC. She has experience in a wide range of clinical specialties, pharmacy management and education and training.
Her main role has been as a Specialist Pharmacist in Gastroenterology / Hepatology for over 24 years, 10 years as a Consultant Pharmacist in this specialty as awarded by the RPS. She leads a team of pharmacists providing services and support to patients and the wider MDT within Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Trust.
She is a qualified non-medical prescriber and Faculty Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Chair of the UKCPA Gastroenterology and Hepatology Interest Group, Committee Member of the British Viral Hepatitis Group (BVHG), and formerly the Nominated Pharmacist for NHSE Hepatobiliary and Pancreas CRG.
She teaches regularly at local and national conferences and training days, and is the author of several publications.

Bryony Chapman BSc (Hons) NMP MSc
Bryony graduated in Adult Nursing from the University of Essex in 2016 and started her career on the Gastroenterology and Hepatology inpatient ward at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
In 2018 Bryony joined the Hepatology Department as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, and has since developed a nurse-led Paracentesis Service, Ambulatory Assessment Unit and Hepatology@Home service.
She actively participates in research within advanced liver disease. Bryony completed her Independent and Supplementary Prescribing qualification in 2020 and her MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice in 2023. Bryony has a keen interest in advanced liver disease and the management of patient pathways.

Loren Smith BSc (Hons)
Loren graduated in Adult Nursing from Oxford Brookes University in 2013 and started her career working for three years on the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Ward at the John Radcliffe Hospital. She then worked in the Emergency Department for a year before joining the Hepatology Research Team in 2017.
Loren has an interest in Autoimmune and Cholestatic Liver Diseases. She sits on the Advisory Board for Dr Falk for Autoimmune Hepatitis, and is on the Steering Committee for Advanz Intercept PBC. She is due to complete her MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice in 2025.

Claudia Delgado BSc
Claudia graduated in Adult Nursing from the University of Escola Superior de Saúde Dr Lopes Dias in 2012. She began her career in 2013 on the Lower GI Surgery Ward at the Churchill Hospital, before moving to the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Ward in 2014.
Over the years, Claudia has served as an Interim Ward Manager and Clinical Educator. In 2025, she joined the Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Lizi Sims BSc
Lizi trained in Nottingham and qualified as an Adult Nurse in 1995, where she started her career in Infectious Diseases before moving into HIV and Sexual Health.
Whilst working in Ealing Hospital Lizi became involved in the care of patients with Hepatitis C. She worked in East London providing outreach healthcare services for patients with substance misuse issues.
In 2007 Lizi joined the OUH Hepatology Team and she is now the Hepatitis Community Nurse Manager providing access to testing and treatment for Hepatitis C to all members of the community, and outreach in several settings

Lainie Lawson BSc MSc
Lainie graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with a BSc in Adult Nursing in 2016. In 2017, she obtained an MSc in Contemporary Drug and Alcohol Studies.
Lainie has a background in community nursing and has worked in a drug and alcohol service. In 2018, Lainie joined the OUH Hepatology Team and has led the HCV outreach clinics in prisons across Thames Valley.
In addition to the prison clinics, Lainie supports the development of the community service to expand our HCV test and treat pathway across multiple services.
Lainie has a keen interest in nursing under-served populations and nurse-led research.
Michelle Layton BSc (Hons) NMP MSc
Michelle graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2016 with a degree in Adult Nursing. She started her nursing career on the Gastroenterology Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital before moving to Cardiff where she worked on the Emergency Assessment Unit at the Heath Hospital for a year.
Michelle also worked in primary care as a community alcohol detox nurse, before moving to her current role as Alcohol Care Team Lead. Michelle completed her Independent and Supplementary Prescribing qualification in 2020 and her MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice in 2023.
Michelle has a special interest in the medical management of alcohol withdrawal and improving specialist alcohol care from hospital to community settings.
Emily Penson BSc (Hons)
Emily graduated from the University of Bedfordshire in 2016 with a degree in Adult Nursing. She started her nursing career on the Gastroenterology Ward at Stoke Mandeville Hospital before moving to Oxford University Hospitals in 2018 as a Senior Clinical Nurse on the Gastroenterology Unit.
In 2020 Emily became the Clinical Educator for the Gastroenterology Unit before joining the Alcohol Care Team in 2022, taking on the role full time in 2023 supporting the embedding of the Alcohol Care Team in the Emergency Departments. Emily has a special interest in the management of alcohol withdrawal in the acute hospital setting, and supporting this complex patient group.

Danielle Russell BSc (Hons) PG Cert
Danielle graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2015 with a degree in Adult Nursing Bsc (Hon). Danielle's career began with a 12-month medical and surgical rotation at the Oxford University Hospitals, including Gastroenterology, Lower GI and Jane Ashley Women's Centre.
Following this rotation Danielle began working at the John Radcliffe Hospital Emergency Department where she spent four years and completed a PG Cert in Emergency Care at Oxford Brookes University, gaining experience as a Junior Sister. Danielle then pursued an interest with a particular patient group and joined the Alcohol Care Team in 2020 - she now works as an Alcohol Liaison Nurse.

Kitty Norris BSc (Hons) Diploma PG Cert
Kitty graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2004 with a degree in Drama and Scenographic Studies (BA Joint Hons). She went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Studies with registration at King's College London in 2007.
Kitty's nursing career started in the Emergency Department at King's College Hospital. In 2011 Kitty moved to The Havens sexual assault referral centre as Junior Forensic Sister. In 2015 She worked briefly for Guy's and St Thomas' as a school nurse before taking a position within the substance misuse team at HMP Bullingdon.
From HMP Bullingdon Kitty worked in children's social care before starting her current role in 2020 with the Alcohol Care Team. Kitty has a special interest in the benefits psychological support can provide this patient group. She also has an active interest in creating educational pathways to support staff to deliver safe, effective and non-judgemental care.

Faith Lucas BSc (Hons)
Faith graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2010 with a degree in Adult Nursing BSc (Hon) and started her nursing career on a surgical urology ward before moving into postoperative care at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in 2013.
An opportunity arose to move into upper gastrointestinal cancer specialist nursing in 2017 at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, before she moved into her current dual role, split between the Hepatology CNS Team and the Alcohol Care Team, in 2022. Faith helps support patients living with advanced liver disease and who have a difficult relationship with alcohol. She has a special interest in harm reduction and alcohol-related brain damage.

Denise O'Donnell BSc
Denise worked in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology inpatient ward at the John Radcliffe Hospital from 2007 to 2009, before moving into research. She worked with the service to make Oxford University Hospitals the Thames Valley Operational Delivery Network (ODN) hub for the delivery of testing and treatment for Hepatitis C.
In 2016 Denise became the Operations Manager for the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Clinical Trials Facility, whilst also managing the Hepatology Community Clinical Nurse Specialists and the Alcohol Care Team.
