Clinic appointments are either face to face or over the telephone - we will make this clear in your appointment letter.

Most face to face clinics are held in Outpatients Blue Area, Level 2, John Radcliffe Hospital main building.

Occasionally we may hold a clinic at the Churchill HospitalNuffield Orthopaedic Centre or Horton General Hospital.

Hospitals - Oxford University Hospitals

General Hepatology Clinic

This is a mixed clinic for patients with a wide variety of liver diseases including:

  • Liver Cirrhosis
  • Alcohol-related Disease
  • genetic and metabolic diseases such as Haemochromatosis and Wilson's Disease
  • Non-cirrhotic Portal Hypertension
  • Budd-Chiari Syndrome
  • Drug-related Liver Injury

MondayTuesday and Friday mornings at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

MondayTuesday and Friday at the Horton General Hospital.

Metabolic Clinic

This clinic is focused on the management of patients with steatotic liver disease secondary to metabolic risk factors including obesity and diabetes, as well as rarer metabolic diseases such as:

  • Haemochromatosis
  • Wilson's Disease
  • Alpha-1-antitrypsin Deficiency.

This is a multi-specialty clinic involving Hepatology Consultants and an Endocrinology Consultant.

Wednesday mornings at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Autoimmune / Biliary Clinic

This clinic is specifically for patients with autoimmune and cholestatic / biliary liver diseases, including:

  • Autoimmune Hepatitis
  • Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis
  • Primary Biliary Cholangitis.

Wednesday afternoons at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Viral Hepatitis Clinic

This clinic is for patients with Viral Hepatitis, including Hepatitis B and C. This is a multi-specialty clinic involving Hepatology ConsultantsInfection Disease Consultants and a Consultant Pharmacist.

Monday mornings at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) Clinic

This clinic is dedicated to patients diagnosed with liver cancer, and is led by a Consultant Hepatologist and Consultant Oncologist.

Monday afternoons at the Churchill Hospital.

Advanced Liver Disease Clinic

This clinic is specifically for patients with advanced liver disease, including decompensated Cirrhosis and pre / post-transplant.

Friday mornings at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Joint OLU and RFH Liver Transplant Clinic

This clinic sees patients at various points across their transplant journey including the referral process, currently on the transplant waiting list and post-transplant. The clinic is led by a consultant Hepatologist from the John Radcliffe along with a consultant and liver Transplant Co-ordinator from the Royal Free Hospital.

Every three months on Friday mornings at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Joint OLU and Cambridge / Birmingham Transplant Clinic

This clinic sees patients at various points across their transplant journey including the referral process, currently on the transplant waiting list and post-transplant. The clinic is led by a consultant Hepatologist from the John Radcliffe along with a consultant and liver Transplant Co-ordinator from the Royal Free Hospital.

Tuesday mornings quarterly at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Cystic Fibrosis Liver Clinic

Cystic Fibrosis is complex multi-system disease. This quarterly outpatient clinic is an MDT assessment of individuals with Cystic Fibrosis-related Liver Disease.

Consultations are conducted by respiratory and hepatology specialty physicians alongside other allied health professionals such as PharmacistsDietitians and Physiotherapists.
