To support patients through this initial crisis, MyVision Oxfordshire runs a Sight Advisory Desk in the Outpatients Department, to provide on-the-spot help and advice to people when they need it most.
The desk is staffed by people with personal experience of sight loss who can provide a listening ear and basic counselling.
They can also offer advice on a large range of items, including:
- benefits
- special equipment (watches, clocks, radios, sunshades etc.)
- other organisations that can help.
Patients do not have to be registered blind or partially sighted to use the service. Everyone, including relatives and carers, is more than welcome.
The desk is open Tuesday to Friday mornings.
