Fine needle aspirates (thyroid, salivary glands, lymph nodes, breast)

Specimen / container requirements

Take two aspirates from all lesions, where safe.

Label microscope slides in pencil with:

• patient's full name
• DOB
• hospital number.

Spread material onto pre-labelled slides.

Allow slides to air dry.

Place in plastic slide transport box and send to the laboratory.
