There is close collaboration with the consultant electrophysiologists, cardiac physiologists and primary care colleagues, including GPs.
Services include:
- nurse-led outpatient clinics for new and follow-up patients with a range of arrhythmias including supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and atrial flutter
- telephone consultations where appropriate to reduce unnecessary journeys
- provision of a comprehensive pre-assessment service for patients undergoing catheter ablation; (a thin wire, guided under local anaesthetic through a vein into the heart, uses an electric current to record and correct abnormal activity)
- access to office hours telephone/email advice service
- education and support.
